Shortly after moving to Fleckney I joined the Fleckney Walking Club – and a very nice and friendly bunch of people they are.
Walking is so easy to do and everyone should do it. Not as knee-jarring as jogging and you get to see some wonderful sights that you would miss in the car.
The walking.fleckney.online site hopes to give you a few ideas for walking locally as well as a bit further afield.
Also, we want to hear from you about the walks you know and love, the terrain, the difficulty level, and, most importantly, the pub stops.
My step-son and I have virtually completed the Leicestershire Round, a walk of 100 miles around Leicestershire, and we hope to create a gallery of some of the pictures we took along the way.
You probably don’t need to be reminded that, for any serious walking activity, the correct footwear is essential.
We are very lucky in Leicestershire in that the footpath signs are painted yellow and are generally easy to spot. Nevertheless, a map and compass are worthwhile investments – as is weatherproof clothing!
