Barwell to Shackerstone (11 miles)
As Dollup was using the car, I took MyVanWee (the Camper Van) to Shackerstone and Kaos picked me up from there and we headed off to Barwell.
It was an excellent rain-free walk. With a few planned (and unplanned) detours we covered 14.5 miles altogether. Our route took us from Barwell, through Sutton Cheney, Market Bosworth where we stopped for a quick one in the Red Lion, Carlton, and finally Shackerstone and The Rising Sun.
There were two woodpeckers flying about but I only just managed to get a half-decent picture of one of them. The robin was a very cheeky chappie and kept coming back for more pieces of very nice scone at the Sutton Wharf Cafe. The cars that appeared in the car park of the Rising Sun, Shackerstone, were driven by members of the Spartan Owners Club. We have no idea what the bird on the beam is – perhaps you can tell us? On the way back we called in at The Plough, Littlethorpe.
