Michael Preston
Born and raised in Fleckney, Michael has a strong connection with the village, especially as his family have been here for a few hundred years and ran the first service bus in the village!
As a young business entrepreneur with Fleckney Group LTD, chairman of Fleckney Festival and a full-time job he certainly has his work cut out.
Michael has also fundraised for various causes including a run finishing at Leicester Royal which raised over £1,000 for the children’s cancer unit when he was just 17.

Fleckney Festival
Michael started Fleckney Festival on his own in 2017 with the aim to give something back to the community, especially as many events in the area had ceased to exist.
Back in 2017 the event only covered one football pitch size area, now fast forward to 2019 when it was just the third year and the event covered two whole fields, attracted over 3,000 people from all over the county and has become Fleckney’s largest annual event which so far has raised just over £5,500 in 3 years.
Now Fleckney Festival has a committee in which Michael is Chairman and Head Organiser. Exciting times lie ahead for this incredible community event.
Besides the Festival, Michael has been involved in many other things within the village. Including saving the Fleckney Late Night Shopping event by taking it on when it was going to stop, helping to organise the Queens Jubilee celebration event with the beacon lighting, running a coach trip in aid of Albie’s Fund, fundraising for the Fleckney Community Library and more recently on the Fleckney Village Hall management committee as Fundraising Officer to help keep the hall running and open for the community.
Entrepreneur:
Michael Started on his entrepreneurial journey at just the age of 17 when he and a friend started to do tuck shops and party supplies. After a year they parted company and that is when he decided to completely change direction by running coach trips with events soon to follow under the name – Acclaimed Preston’s Coach Routes & Events.
Now jumping to 2019 after a few successful years the company went limited and rebranded to Fleckney Group LTD with Fleckney Tours and Fleckney Events as subsidiaries.
Michael has tried his luck with many different ventures along the way too, including a van delivery business, with some of his close family nicknaming him ‘Del Boy’.
Michael is extremely grateful to everyone who has supported his events and would like to thank those who have nominated him as one of the Fleckney Folk.
